ARTIST STATEMENT

Rain, wind, snow, cloud, moon, water.
These words mean natural phenomena,
but are also an expression of Japanese Spirits.

Ancient Japanese people thought that natural phenomena
was a message from “another world”.

My works, printed on paper, are an expression of the relationship
between “another world” and ”this world”.
Sometimes, that relationship is a little humorous. The print on paper is very fragile, and will fade out in the distant future.
These works will all go to “another world” someday.

I love things that are in this world only momentarily;
things that will be nothing in the distant future.
Because of that, I choose to make prints on paper.

TECHNIQUE

My works are printed on “Tosa washi” paper, which is a special product of Kochi prefecture in Japan. My printing method is color lithography. I draw the images using crayon and ink, and print about 12 colors in one work.

アーティスト・ステートメント

雨、風、雪、雲、月、水・・
これらの言葉は自然現象を表すものです。
しかし日本語では、同時に心を表現する言葉でもあります。

いにしえから日本人は、自然現象が彼岸（もうひとつの世界）からのメッセージだと考えていました。
私は、彼岸（もうひとつの世界）と此岸（この世界）がゆるやかに結ばれていることを表現したいと思っています。
そのことは幻想的ですが、ちょっとユーモラスでもあります。

薄い紙に刷られた版画は実に儚く、やがては消え、滅びてゆくものです。
「もうひとつの世界」へと行ってしまうかのようです。

この世にほんの一瞬だけ存在するもの・・人間もそうですが、
そういうものを私は愛しく思います。
だから紙を媒体とする版画を制作しているのかもしれません。
